Hello family and friends of Capital Area Productions,
Capital Area Productions will be participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes
on September 20th at Corporate Woods in Albany. But what you may not know is that we have a new friend who has
Juvenile Diabetes.
We met 6 year old Kiera this past year when she auditioned for Beauty
and The Beast. Kiera has recently transitioned to using an insulin pump to help manage her diabetes, but of course the
road is a bumpy one. Here is an update from her mom:
"We are honored that CAPS is walking in honor of Kiera. She would be really excited
right now if she felt better. Unfortunately, one of the complications of diabetes is high blood sugar and ketoacidosis
and Kiera's been suffering the effects for the last 20 hours due to pump problems. But we're working on it and she'll
be back to her self in no time. This is just one of a gazillion reasons why we need a cure for this disease. So
please sign up and walk and/or donate today!"
It is this reason CAPS is so passionate about raising funds to
find a cure for Diabetes. Did you know they are close????? They need people like you and me to help though.
Many of the kids know the Nick Jonas story about how he too
was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes, and you also may have heard the heartbreaking song A LITTLE BIT LONGER that he sings
about his fight with Juvenile Diabetes. IT IS EVERYWHERE.
For these reasons, and your family and friends who might have
diabetes I ask that you PLEASE PLEASE consider joining the CAPS team. If you can not attend the event PLEASE log on
to the link below and make a donation, it is 100% Tax deductable. The CAPS team is walking in honor of our friend
Alexandra, we want to keep her with us for many shows to come (she was well enough to come back and participate in Annie this
past July!!!!) PLEASE PLEASE log on to the link below and sign up to walk (or join the CAPS kids who will be singing
in Seussical Costumes at the event!) It could mean the difference of finding a cure or not!
If you also know of a business or office that can sell the paper sneakers
for $1 each let me know. We can get them to you and all funds will be credited towards your walk and the CAPS team.
How about a Dress Down Day? Ask your boss if your office can participate, we can provide the posters, stickers and more!
All easy ways to raise funds, not to mention the GREAT online fundraising system you get once you sign up. There are
email tools and more.

General Diabetes Facts
Diabetes is a chronic, debilitating disease affecting every organ system. There
are two major types of diabetes: type 1 diabetes (an autoimmune disease also known as juvenile diabetes) and type 2 diabetes
(a metabolic disorder also known as adult onset diabetes).
Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes Facts
Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes strikes children suddenly, makes them dependent on injected or pumped insulin
for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. While diagnosis most often occurs in childhood and
adolescence, it can and does strike adults as well.
